I have noticed while trying to build, that things I do to prims arent being "stored" correctly. For example, if I do a path cut, on the screen it looks fine, then about 5 seconds later it will go back to the original value. Likewise, even moving prims around, they will reset back to the position they were in a few seconds before.
This is driving me nuts! I am trying to finish an important building project and I have to endure my prims jumping about all the time. Does anyone know a fix for this, or why it might happen? I cannot believe a bug like this can't be easy to fix. It makes me pretty annoyed that the building tools we have to use are so flawed.
Incidentally I have noticed this before, but recently it has got worse than ever. Maybe it is the client version i am using (Emerald 1.23.4.904)

Could be packet loss, cache discrepancy, a problem with the sim you're on, or prim rot. Fist things, first. Restart your computer, router, and modem. Log back in to SL, and see if the problem has gone away. If it's better, just forget about it. Something was borked in your equipment, and now it's cleared out. If it's not better, read on. Cache discrepancy would be the next easiest thing to fix. Simply clear your cache, and relog. Some people swear that manually deleting all files from the cache folder, or even deleting the whole folder, and then recreating it, is superior to using the viewer's built-in Clear Cache function. I've never noticed any difference. Use whichever method makes you happy. Log back in, and see if the problem is solved. To check for packet loss, one easy way to go is to take a look at your stats bar in the viewer (ctrl-shift-1, assuming Emerald has the same shortcuts as the standard LL viewer). If you're experiencing any packet loss, you should be able to see it there. Also take a look at the Ping Sim number. It should generally be about 100ms or less, in order to experience reliable performance. If it's high, run a traceroute to the sim you're on (you can get the sim's URL in Help -> About Second Life), and you'll be able to see where the slowdown is occurring. It could be at any point on the Internet in between you and the sim, and depending on where you are in the world, there could be a lot of points. If the sim is having problems, you'll also see that in the stats bar. There's an article in the Knowledge Base about what all the numbers mean. I'd suggest you read it. Sorry, I don't have the direct link. In any case, if the sim is in trouble, submit a ticket through the support portal to have it restarted. If the problem is prim rot, the the only thing you can do is replace the borked prims with new ones. Sometimes prims just go bad, and that's that. No one seems to know why it happens. Good luck.

You're not using the current Emerald version either. Try downloading 1.23.5.950 and see if it's any better.

Thanks guys. I think it was Emerald, I have switched to the official SL client and the problem went away. Thanks for your long and informative advice, especially Chosen! Thanks, man. Now I am worried about what "Prim Rot" is!!
