I know this will sound naive but anyway I would like to know it before I start learning to work in Blender.............for example if I make a whole house (naive again) in Blender with all the textures and exact dimensions in the relation to my parcel, will house be exactly the same after imported to SL?..............is it possible to import it as such in SL at all?

please advise...........thank you very much in advance,

In a way you can.
On the sculpty side; through Domino Marama's Blender scripts, you can make a whole "Scene" of sculpties and basically export it to SL, textures, maps and all with the "export to LSL" function. It won't export "Normal" prims. Yet.

On the prim side, through Geoffery Gomez's Blender scripts, you can build a whole scene of normal type prims and export those.

So there are ways to do it all but not all at once. YET! I'm sure it won't be too long now before a whole scene can be exported in one fell swoop.

If you want to put in the time to learn and experiment then by all means do. Set aside some time every day and do bits. There is also tons of tutorials and examples to help.

Good luck.

It's Jeffrey Gomez, not "Geoffery".

Prim Composer

It's here, or so it looks as I have not actually tried it yet myself. Prim Composer appears to
bring in the entire build. Built in 3ds Max, save to file, upload to SL thru LibSL client, then when
you log into SL with your normal client the build is floating above your head.

So far as I have read this is the closest to a full offline builder that I have seen so far. 6 months ago the reponse to your question would have been "it can't be done!". Or at least not in the sense that you mean't it.

Other than this option most of what can be done in a offline building method is to create sculpted prims.

There is a great deal of info and points to consider regarding the creation of sculpted prims as
well as offline building methods. I definately echo Lightwave's comment about learning to build
first. Also read forum topics here dealing with sculpties and offline building methods with an aim
to educate yourself. This will give you an idea of what is or is not possible.

For your very first question, Blender is not "compatible" with SL, however it can be used as a
tool to create things you can use in SL, such as sculpt maps and textures.

I haven't tested Prim.blender yet, but to my knowing Jeffrey has embedded Domino's tools so that it now can handle Prims and Sculpties. If that's true, Prim.blender might be comparable to the "Prim Composer" mentioned by Infiniview. Having written this, it is time now to take a look at prim.blender by myself ;-)
