I know that it is best to use non-lofted shapes to create sculpties from, but there are those instances when only lofted surfaces will do. I was wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts on the rules they follow to avoid the pitfalls of lofting when they create something in maya and export it as a sculpty.

So far this is what I have worked out:

1. Start the first curve where you want the seem to be on the final sculpty.

2. Duplicate that curve, and adjust it's cv's.

3. Loft surfaces from curve 1 to curve 2, from curve 2 to curve 3 and so on....

4. Attach the surfaces in the order you created them.

Any other tips?
