How do some get the size of 1 prim to 50x50x1 when the limit is 10x10x10?

Do a search of the forums for "Megaprim" and for "HDM Prim". You'll find a ton of discussion on the topic.

All megaprims were created during two periods where a server glitch made it possible to make some prims that were larger than the normal 10M in any dimension limits. They can't be resized, but can be altered in apparent size by applying cuts, hollows, dimples, and other manipulations.

Existing megaprims, are there are now thouands of sizes of them available, can be copied and retextured, and used in many ways, but you can't create new ones or new sizes of them.

They break the rules that the SL servers and clients were designed to work with, and they do cause problems because of that. The discussions on the forums examined the pros and cons of these in-depth.

I use SALT - It finds practically everything I look for, or something close to it.

Just never ever resize a MegaPrim. Rotate, make it into a new shape - Just do not change the size. It will make it into a 10x10.

Mega Cylinders?

I have some mega spheres but I need some mega cylinders. Does anyone know if any were ever made when the window of opportunity was open?
I need one about 50m Dia and 50m long.

Never mind, I found out you can convert mega cubes to cylinders without any problems.

Yep. You can change the prim type for a mega, as long as you don't change the X, Y and Z dimensions. So mega spheres, cylinders, and even torii can be made from the cubes that everyone made. In fact, that is why my set and many others have the same dimension options in different orders - to allow for the fact that some prim types are oriented on other than the Z-axis
