A government at the center of the world?

Hello Participants of SL! :)

I propose that the central sim of Tan form a government. Since we're the center of the world (ATM, and I hope it stays that way) I would like to organise ourselves in a way that conserves resources so that people using our sim as a passage can freely move and explore.

ALERT! Our sim is in a completely chaotic state. Our Sim's FPS has been dragged from a keen three to four thousand to TWO HUNDRED! When I first read this statistic I freaked out. Our object usage isnt even a quarter of the sim's capacity and our FPS is already down to 200. I must admit, I'm a major contributer to this lag pollution, and am working up a solution to the problem.

I would like to hold a town hall meeting for the residents of the Tan sim, because soon, if not already, Tan will be bustling with people flying in and out. If the sim is laggy, those people wont stop anywhere, including the residential area and shops located in Tan, so we as residents must keep this sim as lag free as possible.

I am available to script code that will make objects you own less contributing to the lag in our sim, please feel free to contact me any residents of Tan are interested.

I am wondering how to form some sort of governmental system in Tan... The residents would have to come together and decide what they want.

Again, if anyone wants something that may make things they own less laggy, and are residents of Tan, please contact me, I'm offering the service free of charge.

-Chris

Glad to see the civilian lag police out in force!

Remember that the sim FPS essential 'free-runs' up to thousands with low load, but that 200fps is still very fast. You don't notice lag until it is <40 or so, and the CPU capacity between 200 and 40 is large.

For a good test, though, get 20 people to hang around in the busiest (script and object-wise) part of the sim, and see what the load looks like. If it is consistently low, you may want to reduce the number of active objects (scripted) and reduce the overall number of objects in the area where people are most frequently congregating.

Of course we are constantly improving this stuff, but these are some things to check and manage in the meantime.
