is there an "invisible" mode?

Not for my avatar itself, but for what she's doing, specifically what she's building, or rather attempting to build?

Since we can't build off-world... and since I absolutely suck at building things -- but I want to make something for the gift exchange -- but I don't want anyone to see what it is while I'm building it ---

I'll rent my house out, I'm having trouble (suddnly) paying the 3000+ in property taxes on my ranch, so some extra income is welcome. When completed, it should be totally impervious to unwanted intruders, unfortunately, so far all the intruders are wanted. but I have TONs of "lab Space" - my blimp is in there, and it isn't even full!

I''m also thinking of renting rooms - you could live in one of the most advanced houses inworld, for less than it costs to buy land, I'll let you mod your room and keep up utilities.

What if we started an institute?
A large structure, sectioned off into rooms for doing experiments, where scripters & builders would congregate, work together, help eachother, and exhibit there work.
This would require a lot of money for land, building, and taxes, so it would only work if some one could raise investments, or us scripters/builders could share the ownership (if this is not possible, it should be). People can obviously sell the stuff they make, to recover expenses, and perhaps we can sell admission to tutorials and workshops for non-members.
When I'm scripting and I need to test something, I have to run over to my neighbors and ask them, and when I need help with a script, I have to run all over the world to find another scripter, it would be really cool to all code in the same place, with easy access to scripters and testers.
Maybe we should have a scripters and a builders guild too, like a group (I dunno how groups work). Anyway, just some ideas.

I give out my card freely and am always happy to take a stab at giving scripting help.

But I worry about the institute.

Cross talk isn't a problem when I'm 100m up on my very own mountaintop, but you can hear through walls, which could screw some scripts up.

and imagine the explosions.

as for groups, we already have at least one vaguely build/script oriented group, that's what all us n7s are kinda =)

Chat pollution could be a problem when lots of scripters are experimenting with scripts in one spot.

Remember to use llWhisper() instead of llSay() when possible... less pollution.

Good point, on the chat pollution, I didn't think of that.
And along with using llWhisper instead of using llSay, it'd be nice if people could remember to use appropriate volumes, a crackling fire, a piano, and a door w/ sound effects are nice, but I don't want to hear them if they belong to my neighbors.

Oh, and is there a way to make your AV whisper, or make an AV speak on numbered channels. this would be cool, if it isn't possible it should go in feature suggestions. Maybe it could even be scripted, and each room in the institute could force all AVs in that room to speak on a specific channel.

oh, just had a thought -- when you get your cash reserves back up, you really should purchase some more land and build some cheap rental housing. be a slumlord! =)
