I am relatively new to SL, but I have been a programmer for several years (in college now). I am really interested in getting good at LSL, but I don't really have any good opertunities to do work that people will actually use.

If you are building your home, or working on a small project and need a simple script written, then I'll be happy to help you out, free of charge!

What do you have to lose?

I was in the same situation when I first started in SL... mostly I just wracked my brain until I came up with something I wanted to try and went and worked on it.

There really isn't that much 'contract' work to be done that I've seen. And it's never as enjoyable as something you come up with on your own

Well, if it's learning you want, Eggy Lippman's running intermediate and advanced courses this week, for people who've done the basics or know similar rl languages.

Sorry guys tomorrow there will be no class due to rl constraints (gf needs time too)

All classes have been pushed ahead one day.
So we now have Scripting 201 (gun making) on Wednesday and Advanced Scripting (radar-like map with sensors) on Thursday.
I'm not an expert though and these are my first official scripting classes so... be gentle

Sio, for you, I would walk all the way down to da boom and teach you a private scripting class. In verse

I'll probably be teaching these classes every week so dont worry. And feel free to come to the advanced class anyway.

Good news Sio, my gf just found out she has some dinner thingy to attend at her sister's place, so we rescheduled our date for wednesday, which is when the matrix is coming out

Osemab, Chris Omega is with you? Ha, that's like using a B-2 Stealh Bomber to swat a fly. From what I gather, what you need is very much novice scripting. Would be good practice for Hampton, no doubt.

Hey come on! Do us scripters a favor and don't work for free. We have to make our bread too you know.

I do some contract work, though the investment of time is always worth more than if I was hosting an event, and doesn't pay as well.

I scripted something for someone, and they paid me 1000 L$, didn't even asked to be paid, said i'd do it for free, and they just ended up paying me.

People have too much money

They pay more than a month's RL salary for a crappy anti-grav thingy that contains a single line of code.
