Can't edit my own creation?

I've been working for days on an item, adding to it, changing it, etc.

All of a sudden I noticed the copy I'm working on, I can't edit the permissions on it anymore, it says it's suddenly no transfer, and when I look at the properties of it in my inventory, it doesn't know who the creator is.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Inventory copies add all the perms together, so if you put in, say, a no trans script, it would look to be no trans in inventory but upon rezzing would have the correct perms for each part (script would still be no trans other parts might have different perms).

Perms

Whenever you use an item in a build that someone else created, whether it be a script, a prim, or whatever, the perms of the entire build are, at least in inventory, going to be set by that item. And if you plan to sell or transfer that item, the "in inventory" perms will apply.

Link a no-mod prim to the linkset, or put a no-mod script into it, and you won't even be able to change the name of the item in inventory. Also, it's been years since I bought a texture without full perms, but, as I recall, even applying a no-trans texture to an item renders it no-trans. And, if it says "no transfer" in inventory, you won't be able to sell it.

If you want to maintain full perms on items you build, you must either be the creator of every component, or only use full-perm components. Use only full perms textures and scripts, and if your item contains sculpted prims, make them yourself from full-perms sculpt maps.

It is REALLY important to look at the perms of the things you buy, and if you buy something that is advertised as full perms, but is not, ask the seller about it. 99% of the time, they will be happy to fix it, but they won't fix it if you don't ask.

This is not quite correct. You do not have to restrict yourself solely to full-perms items.

The perms that show IN INVENTORY are often an inaccurate roll-up of the included perms of the parts. But you do NOT, absolutely, have to make everything 100% full perms to be able to sell it!

You CAN NOT use any parts that are no-transfer for your own permissions, in anything you hope to sell. That includes avoiding no-transfer textures. You can't sell anything that has any part that is no-transfer. (Under certain conditions you may be able to sell items textured with a copy and mod enabled but no-transfer texture. But I think they closed that glitch that allowed that.)

You CAN use parts that are no-modify in your creations that you intend to resell. For example, a lot of animations are no-mod.

You CAN use parts that are no-copy in your creations that you intend to resell. I have done this with custom furniture requests before, like a custom sexgen bed. BUT, this means that when YOU sell it, after the first copy is sold you no longer have it in inventory (or in the inventory of the vending method). So the best way to sell items that include a no-copy part is to sell them directly to the end-user, by rezzing it in-world (or in a box in-world, if it is a set with multiple parts) and setting it for sale, as "Sell original", and then they can take it into their own inventory
