I deleted a particle object but the Particle object is still there. I had someone tell me privately what the command was to turn off all particles but I can't find it now and Search in Forums isn't helping much. Could some kind builder please kindly remind me what the command was or suggested commands turn off left over particles?

Since particles are a property of the prim, once a prim has particles, it has them until you tell it it doesn't have particles. Drop a script with this into the prim, wait for it to run then delete the script: default { state_entry() { llParticleSystem([]); } }

I had this freebie object that I was curious about called flower particles. I rezzed it then when I deleted the particles were still there. I have no clue how to remove the remaining particles I thought maybe one of you talented builders have run into this problem. Someone gave me command when I ran into this with multi-level teleporter when I had similar problem but I can't find command.

Hi FD- Your best bet to find this 'invisible particle emitter' is to use pull-down menu: View -> Beacons -> Particles
This will make a little box with axis poles through it at the center of any prim that's creating particles. Chances are, the object you rezzed and deleted rezzed another object which is still there creating the particles. The emitter may be SMALL, INVISIBLE and/or MOVING... If it's small: using beacons will help you zoom in on it to delete it. If it's invisible: you may have to hit Ctrl-Alt-T to 'hilight invisible objects' so you can select and delete it. If it's moving: and moving too fast for you to catch, one trick I use is to create a prim, edit it... and while I have the edit window open... I drag a selection box around the area where the prim is moving. It should halt the prim when it's been grabbed by 'edit'. If you accidentally grabbed more than the one prim you wanted, click the [x] edit individual prims option and click on the offending emitter, it should be the only thing hilighted. And... if there are just too many particles coming out of the thing to see anything, I usually toggle them off using Ctrl-Alt-Shift-EqualSign (or is it MinusSign? one is clouds, the other is particles, I get the mixed up). This will only work if you have the client&server debug menus open... which you can toggle on/off with Ctrl-Alt-Shift-D.

Thanks for suggestions. I just was hoping to find or remember this command that I typed in when I had this issue with multi level teleporter's left over particles. Luckly even after I tried the script Persephone Milk sent me that didn't fix the problem. It made what was under the particles white but didn't reveal the emmitter. I end up dragging back the object and noticing note on the box that said to turn off particles click twice. Duh. LOL It is very hard to put a script in left over particle emissions if there is no secondlife object visible or made visible even with a script. This time it was lucky I could just drag out the object from inventory and read "click twice to turn off" I am now thinking I need bit more guidance about particles then what I have seen in the this particle site I found. Truthfully I didn't get it, I didn't understand what I was reading. Anyone have any pointers or place to go that I read more has better explaination other then that Particle tower place name I don't remember at the moment?

Anyone have any pointers or place to go that I read more has better explaination other then that Particle tower place name I don't remember at the moment? For more on Particles you have the Laboratory, Classes at TeaZer's and whomever else is currently teaching, and LSLWiki.com. I'm not familiar with any "Particle Tower"... perhaps you're referring to the Particle Laboratory in TEAL? There's a lot to absorb about particles.... it can be a bit overhwelming at first The lab is undergoing heavy renovation at the moment, hopefully it will be easier to understand. There's a new (and growing) library of free 'basic particle effects' that can be copied and tinkered with. There's also 4 new examples on how to target objects with particles, and a new section covering simple "on/off" switches on the way. The problems you described however don't sound like problems with particles... they sound like problems with objects and scripts created by other people, and those scripts happen o create particles. For problems with object usage, it's usually best to try contacting the object 's creator if you're stumped. Cheers and good luck to you!
