Hi
My cabin (beside the small lake in Nexus7) is sited next to a precipitous drop to the lake below. I'd like to build some steps, or a set of ladders, or something, but my design skills and patience aren't up to it. Would anyone like to tender for the job?
Leave a note here for Amazon Omega. Thanks!

I'd be happy to help you if you still need help =0)

Hi Amazon,
Built a little dock near your house. Is this the sort of thing you were thinking. If so, pay me what you like - I can meet you and release objects. Perhaps some $ + art in trade?

One thing to note August is that building the dock cost you $. There is a base price for instantiating each primitive object in the world. Unless the dock has changed ownership... if you were to go back and delete it you would get all of your $ back. Also, I think there is a periodic tax on the objects owned by by you in the world that counteracts your allowance, so unless you actually give the dock to Amazon the dock will continue to cost you some $ over time. If you want to actually make a profit, there IS a minimum price for the dock when you actually give ownership to Amazon.
BTW, i saw the dock in-world and said to myself, "Oh, someone made some stairs for Amazon's shack". I dropped down so I could walk up them to the shack -- worked great. I then went on to read Amazon's little book on the shelf (have you seen that yet?). It occurs to me now that I forgot to rate her(?) positively when I was done because someone pulled me away from my desk at that very moment. Next time I pass by I'll do it (if it is possible to rate someone by clicking on one of their creations; I know that functionality has been added to the project but might not have made it into the last release (2002.11.1)).

Hi August!
Thanks so much for my dock! It's perfect. So, I should pay you - back-dated to when you built it. Sorry I haven't been around. I've been too busy to log on the last week or so.
I tried reading the message in the many things box, but for some reason it wouldn't open? I'm inworld now, but you're not. Maybe we can coordinate here.
From Andrew's comments, it seems this brings up some interesting issues with the economy. Like how to build something to commission and then arrange exchange of funds. Also is there a way for an object to display how much tax it has clocked up over a given period?

Actually it seems I could also just set a price... then you could buy the thing from me and the ownership would transfer. How much do you want to pay me? I'll see if I can set the price correctly, and then you can just do that... buy it and it should become yours.

Ok, I'll go inworld later this evening and see if I can get a fix on what it's worth. By comparing it with other constructions, I should be able to come up with a sensible figure. That seems more worthwhile than pulling a figure out of my avatar's a*s. Maybe I should also factor in the time you took to build it? What is the hourly rate for a freelance SL construction engineer these days, I wonder.

Ok, so I couldn't find anything that was strickly comparable, so... Given that a sofa is $80-$90 bucks, perhaps a dock would be $1K?

How about I set the price to $500 - that seems reasonable for a first project!
See if you are able to buy it next time you log on.
