Did something change with sculpties?

I had soles on shoes textures perfect, and for some reason, the texture switched and the soles themselves look much more blocky. They did not use to have this look.

Did I miss something?

*wtf, I also noticed that even after I exit SL, it is gone but still in my task manager as running. Shit.

Clearing your cache and relogging will often fix this sort of "mal-formed sculpty" problem. It's usually the result of an incomplete loading of the sculpt map. What you end up looking at is the third detail progression instead of the fourth. It's the same glitch that causes textures sometimes to blur after you've already seen them at full clarity. It's just that the texture in question in this case happens to be a sculpt map.

As for why SL is still running, it sounds like the viewer crashed as you were trying to log out. That's not uncommon, and it's not a big deal as long as it doesn't happen all that often. Reboot your machine and the processes will return to normal. If it happens frequently, it's a sign that there's an incompatibility somewhere, most likely with your graphics driver, or possibly there's a PC health issue. Update your device drivers (175.19 is best if you're running an nVidia graphics card, by the way), perform basic system maintenance (run Disk Cleanup, remove temp files, defrag your hard drive, etc.) , and then uninstall & re-install SL.

I suffered from this problem and many other SL-client crashes some time ago. After weeks of frustration it turned out, that a memory bank of my computer was damaged. After replacing it, my RC viewer virtually never crashed again... well, ok, yesterday it did, after i updated to the newest RC-candidate and the newest nvidia drivers... so the world never stands still, what a challenge ;-)
