Thanks to all of you who have worked so hard to get us where we are today. And where are we? We are in our new sim "BLUE" We had a great meeting, elected our new leader Horatio Horn, began laying out the sim and started purchasing land. Here is a picture of the meeting: http://www.twistedboy.com/2nd_Life/Americana-Layout-Meeting.jpgSinatra

"Rosedale wouldn't go into details on what sort of revenue he needs for the private company to break even, but said it would take subscribers in the tens of thousands." OMG this is just silly. Imagine how many computers put together it would take to render 10 or 20 THOUSAND avatars at a major event. My box slows to a crawl with 5 or 6... In big events I have to go to the debug menu and turn off avatar rendering or I am unable to even type. Not even the servers can handle that many anyway, when we had that event with Philip the sim was so full I couldnt even enter it at the first couple of tries...

Remember though, they will add a sim (server) each time the set amount of people join, they always harp how it is an infinitely exanding world. If you look at the complete map they already plan to add another 11 sims in the near future on top of the 15 they just added.
So having 10's of thousands just means that they will add enough land to house these people. I would assume those members would really need to be non lifetime, preferably monthly users. the lifetime members are good for startup capital and to expand the number of servers, but i bet they depend on the people who only pay monthly for over a long time they actually pay alot more.
