Hey folks!
I noticed an interesting trend the other night. My store, (Yuki's Second Style, Kissling 146, 55) according to my people marker, got far more traffic when my friends and I were just hanging around than when no one was there. So! I thought I'd try a little experiment. My job means that for four days out of the week, I'm not home during peak hours. (4:30-9:30 PST) Therefore, I want to hire someone (or more than one person) to man the shop for an hour or two in that block, Monday -Thursday. You're more than welcome to invite people to come by and chat, or work on projects as long as you're available to answer any questions and just generally chat with folks who come in. It also would require you to help people with purchasing and perhaps taking requests.
Requirements: A friendly, outgoing attitude and decent typing skills. (Not looking for perfection, but care and attention are positive) A 50+ behavior rating is required. Available for 1-2 hour block to man the store in Kissling. Familiarity with the game and at least one month in-game experience.
More than one position is available. To start, the sales will be paid on commission. You get a percentage of whatever someone buys while you're there. I haven't decided what it is yet, but it will probably range anywhere from $8-$25 a sale. The other option is for me to pay you in free clothes/custom avatars. This won't be paid on salary because a) I have no way of telling if you were actually there for a full hour. b) It gives an incentive to get your friends to come by.
So you all know, this store is not me trying to make a million bucks. Most of what I make will go back towards Darkwood. Not only building my build there, but helping other residents. It's to help the sim expand while letting me be a fashion designer.
Plus! It's an interesting experiment. As far as I know, aside from the cab company, there isn't anyone who actually has staff on rather than contracting for specific jobs.
Post here if you might be interested, or just give your thoughts on the idea as a whole! I'm open to suggestions on this.

Hire Me!!
07-25-2003 23:07
Hi Yuki, I'm very interested in helping out. I type 55 wpm with 0 mistakes. I'm friendly with people and am on most nights from 6 to whenever (usually late). I think this would be fun to do. If you'd like references I'll give you a list of some of my friends for you to speak with. I'm not able to go IG tonight but would love to discuss this opportunity with you. I'll be on tomorrow night. Hope to interview with you then. Carr

Hi Carrera! Drop me an IM when you see me in-world and we can discuss. I have one employee so far! But he's only taking an hour a week. A lot of other slots to fill! Charlie, I appreciate the offer! But I think commission works better. This way, people get more than a small amount per hour that I could afford to pay, and I know I won't end up even more in the hole if I pay a salary and no one buys Yuki

It seems to be successful so far to have employees. There are still a lot of slots left for those of you who want to give it a shot! I don't require any commitment from you, so if you only want to try it once, and if it doesn't work out, you're not obligated to keep doing it.
Contact me in game or drop a note here if you're interested!

A bump for this thread, because I'd still like some more employees! So far, people earn something between $35-$85 per hour. Not every time, mind. I'm still working out which are the best hours to have someone there. I'm also working on a cumulative bonus for my employees. Meaning. I'll tally how many sales you made in a whole week, and if it's over a certain amount, you get a bonus! And any clothing you buy while on your shift, you get a commission from that as well.

Hey, why not? A sale's a sale, whether it comes from an employee or from other people.
