I've searched these forums thoroughly and looked on the internet at great length and all I can say is that either I'm using the wrong keywords, or there is a complete dearth of information as to how to get Shoutcast working at all. As someone who's not a programmer, but very saavy, I'm having a problem figuring out this streaming music problem. I have a second, networked PC ready to deliver streaming music, but I just can't get the knack. And so I turn to you, my fellow SL-izens. Who among you can explain the process in words that even I can understand. Failing that, I'd love to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Not an answer to your actual question...

But have you tried Icecast? http://www.icecast.org/It has basically the same functionality as Shoutcast, but is much better documented.

Thanks for the tip. I've looked at that site too... Perhaps I'm just assuming that the whole thing is more GUI oriented than it actually is. I have no love of coding and from what I gather from the how-to's, I need to compile something or other. The whole thing gives me a big headache. I can always go the Live365 route (even if their HTTP streams like to dance around), but was hoping there was a non-monthly way of doing it that doesn't drawn on my ability to edit text files.

Icecast is distributed in binary form (already compiled, setup program) for certain platforms. http://www.icecast.org/download.phpAnd there's a list of source clients (what you use to send your source stream to the icecast server) that work with icecast.
