This has been happening to me for quite some time now, but it is quite a bit worse in [this version of] 1.5. I am just wondering if anyone here has any tips as to what i might could do differently, or simply not do at all.
I was attempting to build a new pair of wings last night. Most of you know that yes - they are really simple to build. Slap the textures on, hold down shift, click a direction arrow and drag and voila - you have an exact copy of your original prim.
Thing is, my original prim is resizing itself to the default sizes that it has when it's first created. Every time. I drag a new prim, and poof - the first one is an entirely different size from what i specified. Did i mention it's doing it every time?
I used to be able to minimize this by clicking onto an entirely different object - say, the floor - before re-selecting my wing panel and actually doing the duplication. It wasn't helping in the least last night, however. And last night it also threw something new at me. I managed [once] to get the prims to stay the sizes i wanted, positioned them as desired - shift selected both - hit CTRL L - and poof. The 'original' prim resized itself on it's own. I ended up with two different sized panels linked together.
Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions? I am not a 'new' builder, but this is really frustrating me! Many thanks in advance for your time!

Try using ctrl+d to duplicate the prim instead of using shift+arrow. I use ctrl+d all the time and I've had the resize thing happen once or twice in the last week or so, but not all the time like what's happening to you. If that doesn't work, I suspect your cache is out of sync with the server. Try uninstalling and reinstalling SL. Good luck

This is exactly the sort of tip i was hoping for - thank you! I'll give it a try the next time i am in world; hopefully, it'll do the trick!

*sigh* I appreciated that tip, Chosen - but it's not helping in the least. Now the duplicate is showing up when i hit CTRL+D as the default size. I can-not- get the second panel to maintain the size i am specifying!!

Was the prim created in 1.5 or soon after the release of 1.5.1? Does it use those special little 'radius' or whatnot boxes in the edit window?
If so, your present objects are 'illegal', since LL changed the way those objects worked, since it was possible (in the old way) to end up with a prim larger than 10x10x10. Which is why they won't duplicate properly.

Aye, they were created after 1.5, but no - they are just plain simple cubes that i've flattened out to make into wings. Everything is very vanilla in the terms of 'options' in the prim settings.

I've noticed that every so often my prims will just shrink for no reason when I am resizing them. It will happen for a while and then stop. This isnt much help other than to say that someone is having a simular problem as you.

Changeling, try completely uninstalling SL and then re-installing. Most times that I've had weird issues with prims and have asked LL for help they've answered "cache discrepency" and recommended a clean install. If that doesn't help, then I don't know what to tell you.
I'm curiouis now, so please post back if that solves it or not.

Changeling I have been having the same problem. Very frustrating last night trying to build. These were newly created box prims that had been resized. Also a couple that I had cut, and when duplicating them the cut went all screwyon one or the other of them. I am going to try the fresh install, see what happens.

Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help. I am still wrestling with these prims to get the wings created. I am getting more and more frustrated as the days go by, and am going to be hair-free by the time i get this working properly, i think.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

I`ve just been shift-draging the prim and then applying the texture. Yeah, its an extra step, but it works. Have you tried that to see if it makes a difference?

Thanks for the additional suggestion, Merlin. As indicated, i've been desperate to get this resolved, ... so yes. *chuckle* that IS one of the things i've tried. -Sometimes- it works, but usually it doesn't. It IS how i managed to get my new set of wings actually MADE, but for each pair, i had to start from scratch about three times and guess on the size i'd need for each wing texture, duplicate the untextured prim, and THEN apply the textures to both. Then i hit the link command, and poof - one of the prims would resize 2/3's of the time.
Loads of fun! *wry grin*

Sorry my suggestions didn't help. If duplicating is your only problem at this point though, why not simply stop duplicating? Make two completely seperate prims, resize ant texture them independantly, and then link them as a final step. It's a little more data entry than you should have to do, but there's no reason it shouldn't work.
Anyway, I assume you have E-mailed LL on this or called them. If you haven't you really should.

Have you tried duplicating an object, then logging out and logging back in again, to see if the object 'magically' restores itself to the correct sizes identical to the original? Just a thought; maybe it's some sort of bizarre variation on ghosting.
