Hello, I am a developer of ROKURO. I developed new tool, SHIBORI. SHIBORI ShrinkWraps an OBJ file and outputs it to Sculpted Prim. You can wrap an object by three methods. You can wrap an object by 9 kinds of sculpted prim. And You can adjust the gap. SHIBORI means squeezes in Japanese. You can download and try it from the following URL. http://kanae.net/secondlife/shibori.htmlPlease enjoy this tool.

This looks good. But what is the cost of a license? The website just says three day triel period, during which you can't save. But does not say what it costs to buy a license.

I tried this last nite, it took forever to shrink a rubber duck i made in hexagon to test it. And when it did eventually do it, the sculpt was not recogniseable as a duck. i did use the instructions and only just about surrounded the .obj, and it was sculpt i made for secondlife.
Plus as mentioned, no price. Maybe its vista but it performed very badly and on the second attempt crashed my laptop.
The laptop is a high end aptop with 4 gig ram aspire and handles photoshop cs4 plus sl plus lightroom and browsing at the same time. Maybe optimisation.
I even got a copy of blender and the shrinkwrap on that. it performed a lot better and faster. and thats free.

Hey Maddy,
I use hexagon for sculpts. It occurred to me while reading your post. Did you make sure to use a normal object as opposed to a hex SL primitive?

SHIBORI is 3980L$
03-15-2009 23:48
I apologize for the delay in responding to your message. To Darien Caldwell. Thank you for cheking SHIBORI. Many people bought SHIBORI. I appreciate people which bought it. I am going to release a free updation in the near future. To Ceera Murakami, madddyyy Schnook I'm sorry that I didn't talk about the price of SHIBORI. It is 3980L$. Please visit my shop to buy serial box of SHIBORI. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Phasic%20Foo/32/13/23And I'm sorry that SHIBORI crashed your laptop, madddyyy Schnook. I tested SHIBORI on XP, Vista 32bit, and Vista 64bit. It may be an issue of the driver of a video card. I am going to investigate the issue continuously and to solve it. To Infiniview Merit Thank you for your information. Blender and Hexagon are very wonderful tools. But it is difficult to learn those operations. I would like to develop the tool which makes a work from a simple operation for a short time.

this is very good.
it shrink-wrapped (shrank-wrapped?) better than blender's new shrinkwrap. it did better than the results i got trying to shrink-wrap in modo. shrink-wrapping is not a miracle-work. it's not EVER going to take that 3d freebie cow you got from tubrosquid and make an exact copy and perfect sculpty out of it. ;X
shibori, like most shrink-wrapping, does not handle concave objects very well. or any curved object where part of the object 'shadows' itself from the wrapping object.
yuzuru, here are some things you can look at to fix.
1: the sphere-as-cylinder was not as tall as my beak obj, even when the height sliders were at maximum. also, there was no way to shrink my beak obj size to fit inside it. the cylinders could be stretched taller.
2: when rotating my object, sometimes it disappeared from view. maybe it was just the opengl redraw not being very fast.
3: you spelled "sphere" as "shpere" ;)
it is a very good tool!

I updated SHIBORI.
05-27-2009 22:03
I updated SHIBORI to 1.0.14. The improvements of SHIBORI are as follows. -The misspelling of Wrap Object Type was corrected. -The save option of the TGA file without an alpha channel was added. -Inside out target object function was added. -"Shpere as Cylinder" was changed into "Drum". -The fault in a German environment was corrected. Thank you, Brunhilde Burt. SHIBORI 1.0.11-12 users can use their password. You can download it from http://kanae.net/secondlife/shibori.htmlAnd I released tool "ObjCut" which pre-processes the OBJ file used by SHIBORI. ObjCut has the function to extract a group or to divide an OBJ file for every group. You can download it from http://kanae.net/secondlife/ObjCut.htmlAnd You can know how to use SHIBORI by the following tutorial blog. http://yuzurujewell.blogspot.com/2009/05/b01-make-shoes.htmlPlease check it. Bloodsong Termagant, thank you for good information. I fixed the bugs that you told me. I apologize for the delay in responding to your message.

I would think this would be a very useful program if I had a way of making the avatar mesh match my avatar before doing the shrinkwrap.
Is there a way of doing that?
