Hi,
May i propose one addition concerning installation ?
After you have customized blender according to your video, then do:

File -> Save Default settings

That makes your settings persistent over blender sessions.
Maybe also watch this video here which shows you how to do it:

for most parts our video is redundant, so you don't need to watch all of it. Just start at about 4:30 up to the end ;-)
