OK, this may be a really basic thng... but I am such a newbie to SL, and the whole building thing. The inworld appearance editor can't give me what I'd like for my avatar... namely, a head with no eyeballs, nose, or mouth.... so I was hoping to build a new head that I could just attach.
Thanks, and I hope someone can help!

Drop a sphere on the ground, right click it, select "attach" then pick your skull once it's attached press ctrl-3 for the edit tool, select the sphere, move it into place, then stretch it (hold down ctrl-shift) until it's the shape you like.
Texture to suit, lather, rinse, & repeat.

You might also want to use the appearance slider to shrink down your av's 'real' head, so you don't get creepy bits of it poking out through your prim-head. *shiver*

hmmm, think I'll use this for the av I'm tryin' to make, but I'll have to modify it to include eyes. I'll also have to do some twisting, and shaping for the desired effect.

There's a pretty good Furry starter kit at The Forest 's sandbox (I think it was). You might not have a furry AV in mind, but the basic concepts will hold true, whate4ver you're building.

no offense to the Furries, but they're a bit too "cutesy" for me, I'm looking for um, for lack of a better term, realism.
But what the heck, I'll shoot over there today.

From: Smigmee Pinkerton Isnt it possible to use Poser to make Avs? or Photoshop? They are helpful in making avatars, depending on what you are doing. Poser makes animations, which can be used for custom avatars (like Kage Seraph's giant mecha avatars). And Photoshop is great for making textures, like the furry skins on the furry avs.
