Can't Reposition -- Permission Denied

Anyone know what causes this? It's happening on about every fourth or fifth prim I try to move. A blue error, "Can't reposition -- Permission denied," appears, and then the prim snaps back to its previous location.

At first I thought it was because I was trying to move some scripted objects underground. But that turned out not to be the issue. It's happening with unscripted prims, above-ground as well.

Then I thought maybe it was an issue with my viewer, so I relogged. No change.

Sim stats look fine.

Anyone have any ideas? This is really annoying.

I usually get that with an object entry problem. Are you near a parcel edge, with a different owner?

I wish I knew more about this - it happened to me once for only about a day, and then fortunately stopped happening entirely and hasn't happened since.

If it's the same type of issue that I ran into... this was happening as I shift-dragged copies of prims. About every 4th or 5th sounds about right. I'd shift-drag a copy of a prim and it would snap back to somewhere in between the original prim position and the position I was trying to drag it to, and give me the "can't reposition" message..

Unfortunately the best suggestion I can give you is to pick up a copy of the object into your inventory and then rez it at the new position, and then align it by numbers - that was the only workaround I managed to find. Or if you can I'd log out for a few hours and then come back and see if it is still happening. Good luck with this, I know it is immensely frusterating.

Cristalle, your mention of owners made me realize I'd been building with the wrong group tag on (which is obviously bad for a number of reasons, although I've never encountered this particular problem before). I switched over to the correct group for the land, and the problem seems to be solved. Thanks.
