hi there, i have a house but infortunatly no doors, so i got now doors. i put them in, did the sizing and placed them...but, when i "take" the house, the doors dont stay in the house, how can i make them to be attached to the house? and another question, how can i take a part of a house, for example the "ground" and make it "independant" of the rest of the house so that i could use it in another house?
thanks for giving me the infos

you have to link them to the house. The best thing to do is read about how to link and unlink items but the basics are:
Select the doors then hold shift and select the House (or part nearest the door) then - Tools : Link or Ctrl L
the same goes for the parts of the house you want to get rid of.
Go to build mode then click edit linked parts check box..
then select the prim ( or shift click as many as you want to select) and go to Tools - Unlink or Shift Ctrl L
then clear the selection and the next time you select those parts they will no longer be part of the house.

Also, beware of the fact that some door scripts don't behave well when linked to a building.
In general, if the door allows multiple prims for the moving door itself, or uses a "hinge prim" in addition to the door prim, then it probably can't be linked. If the door is a single prim, path cut in half so the center of the prim's visible part is on the hinge edge, then it may be linkable to your house.

You may want to select the various unlinked parts and "Take" them. Then when you re-rez the house start out in Edit mode so the coalesced object comes out as selected. Pie menu --> Edit, then move the house where you want it to be.
Practise first. Also, practise with doors - how they behave - and the different types of door scripts you can use. It's not only a good idea, it's fun, too.
