Prefab Houses

Hi All

I'm getting a bit disillusioned with prefabs. I haven't been here very long and I thought they would be the answer to my prayers. A nice house built by experienced builders to live in until I had learned the skills to build my own.

I bought one that looked lovely, but was in 3 pieces that was like an IQ test to put together and align (I failed miserably). I gave up on that one and put it back in my inventory and went searching for another that was a bit more *idiot proof*.

I found one I liked, checked the contents before I bought it, great ! it was in one piece ! Got it home, put it out on my land and needed to move it, hey presto the whole thing just fell apart into what seemed like 1000 pieces. I now have an inventory full of matchwood <sigh>

Please, all you talented builders out there, you make some beautiful houses, but some simple instructions on a notecard would be so helpful to us novices or at least a snapshot of different views if it's to be put together. I don't want to go running back to the creator every five minutes and bothering them, but I'm now L$1500 poorer and still have no house :(

Sorry for moaning...

Hey, I'm new but I'm already in love with building. Send me an IM and if you want, I'll help you build one free, whatever you want. I can't promise instant results but I can try and help you out.

However, I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best out there, but I can help you if you'd like. Sounds like someone already hooked you up with housing though :)

Talk to Lordfly Digeridoo or Bob Bunderfield. They'll build you a custom house to fit your needs :)

Gemini...

I have a new home for sale (you can see the model in Stillman, northshore) that is easy-as-pie to setup.

It runs $750 and is complete.. you just add furniture. It also has detailed notes on how to set it up.

You can read more about it on this thread .

IM me IW with any questions!

Being a SL'er for quite some time now, I tend to think I'm pretty build talented, and have built a number of homes/stores for people. I will help you free as well. IM me in world as Zoey Jade :)

Hi All

A huge thank you to everyone who has offered help with my housing problems, you're all so kind.

I found a lovely house by Tyra Valkyrie in one piece (woohoo) and believe it or not it's STILL in one piece after i put it down and moved it hehe...

Thanks again...

After a few minor tweaks I'm thinking of putting my houses back out -- they were made for new users with low prim plots..

Have more info this weekend.

I have also recently started selling prefabs, and have had lots of positive feedback, see my signature for details.

I have supported several buyers with assembling builds when they have had problems, but most should be very easy to assemble, and they range from 19 to 100+ prims :)

Maybe I should start advertising again, lol.

I build custom housing. My style can be a bit wierd, but I'm always open to suggestions. Oh, and I'm a pretty quick builder too.

I have a small house that is a freaking 102 prims, now that takes up most of my allotment. I dont have much room to even decorate. Are there any NICE houses out there that uses less prims? Or am I doomed to have just a house with no decor? I dont even know where to look for a decent house with a decent price that wont take up so much space. :(

I have several prefab houses that are in one piece. You can see them at Benten (160,118), there are several on the vending machine there and the one that is built is also for sale.

What would revolutionize prefabs would be a llRezObject based box that assembles the house easily. It could be similar to Juro Kothari's lighthouse and rerez when the base moves. I should make some of those for free. If anyone would like to help, IM me.

That sounds like a great idea Goshua. If I knew how I'd help, but I wouldn't know where to start.

The script in that is pretty basic, and more or less the same script from the SuperHotTub1.1.
Since that was written (the day 1.3 went up) I've learnt a lot more (it was one of my first scripting projects).

The easy part about both the lighthouse and the hottub is that it only really has to worry about rotating the light (or water) directly above the base, and at ZERO_ROTATION.

Setting up a whole house so that everything would in the correct place at any rotation isn't all that more difficult (as I found out later) - but a bit more time consuming to set up.

You also have to weigh up the usefullness of taxing the server with the killing/rezzing on move when you have a lot of objects... not to mention the chance of producing mutliple ghosts.

This is one of the things I'm looking into to update the range of low prim houses I took down not that long ago.

Siggy.

I'd like to just add that Planet Mars Rocks!! I bought a house from him and it did not fit in my lot. He came by and offered to fix it. I had to unfortunately log out (it was very early AM at the time for me and I had to sleep a bit before work in a few hours) but he stayed and modified the house so that it would fit on my lot.

When I logged back in there it was beautifully fitting in my space, and a copy sent to me so I could replace the one he left (which was owned by him) with the one he gave me and it was totally modifyable.

I love my Planet Mars house even though I modded it greatly and had a blast doing so. It's a great house.

Thank you Planet Mars.

Siggy, I've seen and own some of your designs too and they're awsome. Don't give up, let the masses have them. :)
