Build crossing property lines

I was rezzing "walls" on ground to mark off my property lines, and sending them up to where I am gonna build a skybox (don't know if there is a way to see prop. lines above ground..). After sending them up, I notice that a box built a couple of months ago actually does cross the property lines a bit - even though I was sure I was well within when we set it up. The land it is hanging slightly over is protected Linden land. It is just enough so that if I squeese into the wall as a cat (literally) I will be on Protected land. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3248/3152598061_a925b20092.jpg

Is it possible that the build has shifted? Nothing within it seems out of place. And will it be risky leaving it as is? I mean, if walls haven't been returned by now.. (yes, I am a noob when it comes to these matters :p ) It's not that I *mind* inching the box and everything in it a meter to the east, but... Gah. -_-

The location of an object is always at its "object-Center" regardless of its actual size. So you can create an object, place it very near to your property border and see, that half of the object lies on the land of your neighbour. I am not sure, if that is also true for huge prims, but i suspect, you could rez a huge prim and it will stay in world as long as the object center is located somewhere in your property...

Your method for being able to see the property lines at altitude is the only trick that does it accurately. I do something very similar when I build in the sky. I place small diameter, very tall posts at the corners of the parcel, then change their z-height to the altitude I plan to build at, with additional posts added along the edges as needed.

Now that you know that one prim hangs over the edge, you should correct the earlier building error. While it is unlikely that anyone would complain about a very slight overhang over Protected land, and which does not block a road or waterway, it would certainly be inconvenient for you if someone did, and the entire linkset associated with the overhanging prim got returned to your inventory. Far better to just fix it now.

Thanks for the replies. :)

Heh, after checking how much of the build we risk having returned if it was to come to that, I think I'm gonna leave it. >_> It would affect only 3-4 prims or so, the box is not linked.

Oooor I could just have my partner do that tedious work while I work on a new build... yes, that sounds like a plan. Muahaha. (I'll bet today will be the day he starts reading the forums.. )

*shrugs* I can't imagine it would be all that hard to select the whole sky build and just move it over a little bit. But how you deal with it is up to you.
