Caves?

Hi folks,

Is it possible to dig caves in land you own? Is there documentation on terraforming somewhere that I can refer to, rather than posting silly newbie questions here?

Most of the sims can only be terraformed +/- 4m from the original. The older sims allow for +/- 20m change. You could dig a ditch and build up rocks around and over it to form a cave. We cant dig sideways into mountains.

There are some classes on terraforming on occasion. Im not sure about documentation. The land has a "revert" tool in the edit land section, so you can undo anything you may not have wanted to do to your land, so dont be afraid to experiment.

Thanks -- that helps. I guess I could probably color the top of the rocks, etc. and plant some grass to make it look like land afterward....

There have been a few cool caves around in the past, maybe currently. Hopefully you will get some more responses about caves here. I know it is interesting to some of us.

I did something like that for a cave. I photographed a nearby square of ground and used it as a texture* for the cave walls. Since then I've seen other caves where people used the same technique.

I made a cave for a friend of mine, Misticfox Zuma. It's a rocky cave though, not a "hole in the side of the hill" type cave... Its not much but its cozy =) Its in Tuvan on the big island if you ever wanna take peak (Theres 3 islands in tuvan, 2 are small, one is large. The large one is mine and is currently a work in progress =P) I must warn you though, there is NO second room in it LOL there are some curtains hanging in there but they are covering up something that some people other than mistic herself might not want to see. SOOOO if you decide to visit, just, dont, open, the curtains =)
now MY House is the very large treehouse, Maxx Monde built 98% of the structure. I textured it and added in the other 2% plus scripts and the holographic map of the island (so far). There is a model layed out on the ground somewhere on the island too, thats the basic idea of how the island is gonna be when its done.

I had a pretty hoobit hole type thingy i made, in fact i still have it..(IM me in game Ill give ya a copy) but its in pieces..it takes a lot of prims cuz you have to build up like a valley in yer land and insert the hole. I used rocks to cover the top and had a waterfall that ran thru the rocks and splashed down in front of the door..it was cool. you can build one, but takes lots of patience.
