Good Day everyone....

I was just chatting with someone and this Topic came up and I am also curious to know...

Many of us have built some pretty interesting structures and "doo-hickies" and we are wondering if there is a scripted system that grabs all the params of a Build which can then be dumped into a 3D Modelling Software, such as Blender, or possibly a common format which is supported by 3D softwares.

Now I am just talking about the Prim Structures, Not Textures. There are tools out there that can import to SL a variety of things and other tools which can use In-World Build Tools to produce sculpts...

Does anyone know of such a beast ? OR would this be something worth exploring on a scripting level ??

i don't think there are any complete solutions to this...the SL parametric prim solution is optimized for streaming, not modeling. You would need some way to convert all those prims to some format familiar to a modeling tool.

There is, it is called Prim Composer and can be found at:

http://liferain.com/

(only works in Autodesk 3D Studio Max, which can be quite pricey.)

Prim Composer is a free download that allows you to import from Second Life into 3DS Max and vs. versa. It will only grab the prims that you are the the creator and owner of (i.e. - no massive prims). The export from Second Life is written to a .xml file somewhere on your local directory and you can in turn read that xml into 3DS Max via the Prim Composer plug-in running inside of 3DS Max. There is support for standard prim and sculptie import/export, not to mention building tools for using SL prims within the 3DS Max environment.

There's a bit of a learning curve involved if you're not familiar with 3DS Max, but I have found the tool to be genious. It works quite well.

Hope that helps,

Hey Chipley,

That looks like the kind of Tool I'd be looking for ... Sadly is a Plugin for 3DSmax @ MEGA_$$$ which is not an option for the general public. But dumping to XML would be handy no doubt as several apps can import & use XML files.

Thanks for the Responses
