There are some building sections which I cannot make without megaprims; (or which I cannot make without using a zillion prims) as in the sliced toruses on the facade and vaulting of my Sagrada Familia Cathedral. I used 'vengeance' megaprims, with which I was so impressed that I sent a large donation to the maker. Oddly, for the last few months I have been unable to rez any more of these great megaprims from their box. The maker did not reply, when I enquired about this. Perhaps she has left SL, sadly. I would love to be able to use them again, does anyone else know why this has happened? I even went back and got a new copy of the box. And I did not know that megaprims in a build prevents copybotting! Thank you for sharing that, and it certainly makes it even more justifiable to use them. I do offer 'with or without megaprim' buildings, but my recent buildings have all included these fabulous sliced megaprim toruses and rings, they are so useful! I can rez the megaprims but they all (full-perm in their box) emerge as no mod/no copy/no transfer. Even the same ones I used successfully a few months ago! It is as though the coding for them has gone wrong, making them all 'rotten prims.' Did this come from an SL decision which I have missed, please? Will it make the buildings I have made with them have these no/no/no permissions too? I can use full perm copies of them from my inventory or scavenged from previous buildings, but coming from the box itself they are unusable. I have found a new set from another maker to try, but I would like to know if other people are experiencing the same mystery. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hermetic%20Palaces/118/119/26Best wishes from Ainee Kohime

I'm not familiar with the particular megaprims of which you speak, but if "slicing" is what made them so great for you, why not simply grab any old full perms pack of megaprims of the same sizes, and cut them yourself?
Also, have you tried dragging the supposedly broken ones out of the box and into your inventory, instead of trying to rez them straight from the box? It's possible that the rez-from-container process might be borked, while the rez-from-inventory process might not be. It's worth a try.
The copybotting thing makes sense, by the way, if you think about it. It's not that megaprims can't be copied. It's just that there's no way to rez the copies, since new megaprims can't presently be made. Only pre-existing ones can be rezzed. I think there's an obvious work-around to this, but I won't say what it is, of course. Not that I expect my silence to hinder any clever copiers, but at least I don't have to feel like I've contributed to their actions in any way.

I've heard of megaprim packs being blacklisted if they contain prims that are too large, and sometimes things just show up as missing from database. Might be simpler to just get another set, they are all over the place. I could even drop you the set that I made or better still, have a look for the Salt hud on Xstreet.

There is a permission problems with stuff inside objects right now, very much like the one that was messing up things rezzed from avatar inventories early in the 1.26 cycle. Find a sim running the 1.26.3 pilot and see if prims from a fresh copy of that box rez properly there. There is supposed to be a fix for that one in the update, hopefully this is the problem you are up against. ETA: the bug report was https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4139

Ah, thank you.
I shall try the inventory trick (sighs, another huge increase in that total)
I do not understand about how an actual sim runs an update, i thought it was client side. Perhaps I should find out whether my own sim is up to date. How do I do that please (in very simple steps?)?

You can check the sim's version under Help->About Second Life. The first paragraph tells you about the version of SL you are running, skip that. The second paragraph, starting with "You are at..." is the interesting one here. The server version that is supposed to have the fix is "Second Life Server 1.26.3.118673" - only a small portion of the grid is running it right now, the rest of the grid will get it during the week. (the old bugged version is 1.26.2.117266)
Not finding much in the way of sandboxes with the new version right now, will update if I stumble on somewhere you could try a few quick rez and takes.
ETA: Morris has the new version.
