Please could someone point me to a link that works for this great little program. I used the older one for a long time, lost 1.0.3 and can't find a useful download link for it any place.

Please, SL is so unndependable lately. I need a lossless sculpty uploader.

And no, the wiki link has been dead for ages..

There is a version of SLIMAGEUPLOAD in the binary version of LibSecondlife at http://www.libsecondlife.org/wiki/Getting_the_code .

I don't know what version it is. I ran it and it did not display a version number.

It has a revised name now, of GridImageUpload, I think, so maybe you can find one of that.

If you are feeling up to it you can follow the procedures needed to compile a version.

You could join the libsecondlife group and ask there. I tried but I can't open a chat session due presumably to SL's normal state of malfunction.

I appreciate your help, but I really don't know if I am up to learning to compile, or learn to compile this new source code. I have fallen way behind on many projects, due to friends dragging me away. I had planned many things for a long time. Because Sickness, and SL, not working properly prevented me from finding time to complete the job.

I am a legally blind, 30 year insulin dependant diabetic with a 3 year kidney transplant. In other words, a kidney transplant, I have had for 3 over years after 8 years on dialysis. I am not looking for sympathy, only understanding. I use my lindens, that I make from sales of my items in SLm to pay for my tier and yearly fees.

I would not be able to afford to stay on, with my small fixed income. I gave up most other entertainment and cable TV for internet and being here in SL. The less time it would take for me to get back to building the better. Learning to compile, in a programming language I have no previous experience with, would take more time then I wish to give up at the moment. The easier and the less time the better.

I thank you for your time.

In appreciation,
InuYasha Meiji

You might try the binary download I linked to. I think it's about six months old. That just requires unzipping and then running the image upload program.

I fully understand about not being comfortable trying to compile the code. I will say, you don't have to understand what you are doing in order to do it. The instructions are not all that complicated. I was able to do it, and I don't do C# programming, although I have programmed a teeny tiny bit in other languages, so I had the general idea.

However if what I am being told is true that zip file has the latest version there is, so there wouldn't be a point to compiling it anyway. Well, I guess there might be some changes in the libsecondlife library not specifically in the image upload application that might affect it's behavior.

I have a similar aversion to trying to compile the SL viewer. I just know there's going to be something in the process that will make me pull my hair out.

I seem to be getting told that the version in the zip file I gave the link for is the latest version there is. Whether that is accurate or not I don't know.

Hi;

I am not aware of any problems with the standard uploader concerning sculpted prims.
So i wonder why you are searching for an external lossless sculptie uploader.
Maybe i missed something ? Under which circumstances does the standard viewer and the RC viewer fail to upload sculptie maps ?

My sculpties are a bit detailed, and it seems some detail is missing when I used the regular viewer upload. but I just found and older version od 1.0.2 and it is working. So thanks all for the help.. I appreciate all the time spend in helping.

There might be a couple of other reasons for this that aren't to do with the client upload. First being that the mesh size of your object has more than 1024 verts, second being the conversion to a sculpty map. Some converters are pretty poor which others are pin sharp.

Is there any sort of workaround for the alpha-problem with GridImageUpload (formerly SLImageUpload)? lossless sculpts load several orders of magnitude faster when uploaded with GIU.. but for some reason it just doesn't like alpha channels, and my sculpt maps end up with white feathering.. which as you can imagine, makes them useless for sculpts.

Do I have to choose between speed and "Security?"

I found that the transition point is 128x128. So I quit uploading larger than that.

There's no reason you would need higher than that at all anymore.
