Is there a way to unlink only 1 prim from a group of prims. I have a house I built and sometimes would like to change something. I usually don't because when I try to unlink 1 prim the whole house comes unlinked.
Thanks.

Nope, sorry. You can only unlink the entire set into all of the individual prims.

Yes there is - choose "Select Individual" in the edit menu, then select the prim you want to unlink and press Ctrl-Shift-L to unlink that one prim - the rest of the object stays linked.

To link that object back into your linkset, select the unlinked object then the original linkset in that order and link them.

There's another method that I use a lot when I want to work with a set of prims from a link.
When you first unlink, all the prims in the link are still selected by default. If you hold down the shift key, you can deselect individual prims. Then deselect and re-select the main prim for your object, and link again. You'll end up with the main link intact, and one or several pieces separate and ready to be edited. ![]() _____________________

Note that repeated linking/grouping/unlinking higher-prim objects will cause some of the prims to move a tiny amount each time you make one of these changes, so if you are building something that requires precise positioning, it is generally more useful to unlink and relink the entire set rather than individual pieces.
LL is aware of this problem and has said it will be fixed in a future release, but with no guarantees as to how soon. _____________________

Woah! Great tips Ananda and Apotheus!
Linking is such a fundamental skill, yet I hear so many new builders complain about what a pain it is to learn. Thanks for these fine details. Lumi _____________________

Poor Grim... But I feel your pain, dude. I get those "WHAT??!? You can DO that?!?!" every now and then too.
