Hey all. Just an idea.. I know you know I've taken quite a bit of break from it, not sure if you all heard about it. I've taken a break from building a scaled down version of the USS Enterprise (the real carrier), however even the scaled down version of this takes up an 8th of a sim. Not sure exactly if theres even a place to put it!
It would be a very significant project which much detailed work, I already have the main hull of it done as some of you may have seen.
I'd like everyone's honest opinion about it. It's a very very big project with tons of detailed work involved. I'd like to beable to get it somewhat realistic but it doesn't have to be.
It would be a good project for naval enthusists as well as a dedication to the real Enterprise and their crew for service the US for so many years.
So the ultimate question: Eyesore or Aweness?

Will we be allowed to tie smaller boats to it to form a raft? ;-)

Hmm, man. If this does happen I'm gonna plant an atenea atachment to my skull and wander around babbling in toungues. I saw bits of this monstre in the sandbox the other day and was amazed at the scale. It looks amazing!

The cool thought about this, should it be completed, is.....trying to land on it.

If I recall correctly, Einsman is doing this at about 40% scale ... which still makes it (after scaling):
-- 134 meters long over flight deck (any SL plane so far made should be able to land on this!) -- 127 meters long at waterline -- 16 meters hull width (beam to you mariners) -- 30 meter flight deck width (lots of overhang on either side) -- 7.5 meters from normal waterline to flight deck -- 18 meters from flight deck to top of mast.
The actual Enterprise has some 5,000 or so people aboard when deployed; hmm, that'd be 320 people at the 6.4% of the RL ship's volume that Einsman's represents.
Obviously, there will be fewer decks that the 20 or so on the RL Enterprise, both because of less vertical space available, and because Navy ships have really low headroom anyway, which SL avatars don't fit well with. And of course some fiddling would be needed to make it visually more interesting ...
