Thank you everyone for attending tonight's event! We got a lot accomplished today, and have big plans for our group! For those who could not make it, don't worry, there's plenty to be done and the group needs you!

Here are some ideas presented at tonight's event, as well as some grounded plans at the moment. Chat away about these ideas in the forums so we can get things moving. Questions and comments, of course, are both desirable.

And two quick announcements:

1. Homework for next Friday! Bring to the event a notecard with your Second Life autobiography, complete with little photos leading us through the world you've created for yourself in Second Life thus far. This idea will be the alternative and hopefully more fun approach to introducing ourselves at each event. :) It will also be our first collected piece of writing!

2. Myradyl Muse is hosting the first Writer's Circle contest ever! Join her this Sunday (check Event Calendar) for a poetry reading contest. Hope to see you all there!

Now for the nitty gritty:

-Workshops can start immediately and people can offer their names as supervisors for workshopping; each person can organize the workshop however he or she wants, provided an explanation is given in the forums event posting on how it will be organized and ran. Encouraging "inexperienced" writers to attend and providing them with positive feedback as well as constructive criticism is a must. Any member can host a workshop event provided the above criteria are met. Last thing we want to do is make people feel inferior or unpresentable.

-Altogether, we should have one person for each written form who is dependably in SL--frequently--who can collect, encourage, and inspire persons of each genres. They will be given an officer position, but it should be understood that there is no ranking based on one's written ability nor should there be any instance where people are demeaned or discouraged to write due to their experience in writing (or lack thereof). These are "go-to" people, are not self-proclaimed superiors or anything like that--they're mainly going to be organizers for information based on the various genres/written forms. We have a few so far of this type:
*Myradyl Muse will be collecting and presenting information based on poetry.
*Ozone Twilight will be working with the history/research/personal essay. He'll be presenting and collecting ideas based on these forms.
*Timber Satyr will be presenting and collecting ideas for the short story/short fiction sect of the group.
There are still several positions that can be handed out, but know that being a lead organizer in this group carries with it a lot of responsibility and less of the traditional "officer" benefits that are so common in groups.

-We should look into buying a plot of land (it can go under my 4024m2 land cap) to begin a skeleton build of a library. Should be low prim high texture high class but relaxed. Plenty of auctions coming up; I have some money to spare and I wouldn't mind looking into the plots that are available in any of the new sims.

-We are thinking of holding "Author in the Spotlight" type events over time, organized much like Hamlet's Author events.

-Research/History/Personal Essay group--what kind of projects should start up? Will they involve RL as well as SL? Is a History of SL out of the question?

-Novels--aside from workshopping and presenting novels, this would be an excellent group in creating a few round robin stories.

-Poets--workshopping would be awesome for this genre, and I suggest a poetry collection be started. People should round up their favorite self-written poems.

-Short Stories--this would work well with both workshopping and readings.

-Next event, each of the officers will arrive with ideas for their group, and will be collecting ideas just the same. If you want to collaborate with them beforehand, please do so. It will also be noted at this event who will be taking part in which operations in the group. We need to start up some round robins, we need to discuss plans for workshops and contests, we have got to think of ways to develop a library and have a few librarians who wouldn't mind cluttering their inventory with notecards.

We're almost out of the organization phase and on to some brilliant work. Hope to see you again next week!

Daemioth. . .

Really sorry I haven't been in world and I missed this. Really wanted to be a part of it.

Hoping to work out my lack of broadband within the next week or so.

Once I'm back in world, I'd love to be a part of this. Has anyone volunteered to be the organiser for people working on novels? I'm working on my first, and would love to work with others as we stumble our way through this process.

Anyway. . . hope to be back soon :D
