I always loved Nautilus, it was clean and nice. And because the parcels are expensive I thought the place would be somehow protected from the tasteless creators (well, they are not really creators...). Anyway, I found this tonight, a huge black wall covering a few parcels in Nautilus. I wonder if this was made by someone who lost all his creativity or was this done simply to bring the prices down in the surrounding area ? Whatever it is, it is just a shame.

Well just glancing at the map in your slurl it appears that the person is using it as a map ad.
"Bandido Motors" If it is too low and is an eyesore then you could ask the av to raise it to a less noticeable altitude from ground level. And or make the faces of the prims on the underside of it transparent. But if the av owns the land it is over then they do have a right to have it there. It annoys me when people put huge platforms too low to the ground. However above 500 meters or so it should be fine. I have a number of large platforms above my own land however they are all above 600 meters. The above assumes it is a platform. Having just reread your post you use the word wall. If it is a giant black box well then that just sucks. In my opinion it certainly rates a call to the design police. However unless you can prove that they are doing this as a form of land extortion then it is just part of the risk of mainland property. I have owned land on the mainland since '06. I have about half of the sim I am in and there is a fellow who has a fairly nice build right in front of my headquarters there which he has never textured. I have offered free textures to him and IMed him variously to discuss options or make suggestions and have never once gotten a response. It has been there for at least well over a year. So I feel your pain. ![]() _____________________

Ah I see, they should go with the transparent underside then.

They can make the whole thing transparent-textured. The world map doesn't care what texture you use, it only pays attention to how you tint the prims. I've seen at least one map hack that was completely invisible in-world.

It is more like black box, not a just an ad layer. However, it does not affect me, I was just in the area looking to buy land and as soon I saw this black box, I thought I will never buy in this area. But you are absolutely right, this is mainland with all it's pros and cons.

But you are absolutely right, this is mainland with all it's pros and cons. Hi Emma. This is an operating business that owns the land. The owner makes bikes and the air build is an area that looks like it covers 4 parcels and inside houses a display area. While we had hoped people would keep their shops and homes in theme, some don't...but that's mainland. There are a sizable number of regions where people are keeping to the theme. As of tonight we have 90 parcels for sale in Nautilus City ranging in price from L$45,000 to L$360,000. You will find parcels on the shorelines, up on the Citadel, in the Harbor area and in the East Shore. While there is still some land speculation taking place prices are becoming more reasonable...and believe it or not, some are starting to get close to Auction price levels which is still a lot of Lindens in some cases. We also have a very active Nautilus City Alliance that produced our hugely successful first Annual Summer Festival in mid-June. This event was driven by many of the residents working together with folks at LL which have been very supportive in our use of the Linden public lands. We'll be starting our 3rd Saturday Concert Series shortly with Cutting Edge Concerts doing 2 concerts every 3rd Saturday. We also have other plans in the works. If we can help answer any questions on Nautilus City, please don't hesitate to IM me. I'll be happy to put you in touch with some of the other in the Alliance if we can be of help in answering questions as well. Cheers! |
