also could be called a 6 or 8 sided pyramid roof.. for towers
how do you make one of these? Also is there a way to mix that style with a mansard type where the angles can be slightly rounded, so that it does not look so straight?
hmmmm
thanks in advance for any tips.

A straight one isn't very hard... Making it curve outward takes more prims.
First, make a tentative roof panel. Take a box prim. make it flat on X, a bit wider than you think you'll need on Y, rotated to the roof pitch on the Y axis, and tapered to 1.00 on Y
Center a cylinder or box prim under the top point of this triangle. Use the axis lines to align it as exactly as you can under the point.
Link the roof panel and the cylinder, with the cylinder as the root prim.
Duplicate by dragging, then undo to move it back to the starting position.
Edit the Z rotation numeric value as needed for the number of panels. 60 degrees for a 6-sided roof, 45 degrees for eight, etc.
Repeat this again, with double the first rotation value.
You will now have three roof panels that meet at the top point exactly, but at the bottom they intersect each other, (or come short of intersecting, if you started too narrow).
Edit linked parts, and check the "streach both sides" option, and streach the Y length of the roof panel on the second assembly, until its edges exactly intersect the other two. This assembly will be your actual roof panel.
Delete the other two, and replicate the new panel as before, with the undo and new rotation as needed...
Select all 6 (or 8, or whatever) assemblies, and unlink them.
Link the roof panels to each other, and to one of the cylinders as a new root. Move this assembly aside, and delete the other temporary cylinder prims that were your pivot points.
Edit linked parts, select the central pivot prim, and zero its rotation.
Use planar texturing on the roof panels.

For the effect of a curved roof, repeat the process to make a "skirt" at the base that is larger in diameter but shorter in height. Use a less then 1.0 Y taper to make the top edge of the skirt match the bottom rim of the next part up.
Repeat as needed for a gentle curve at the bottom.

Glad you liked it. Feel free to re-use as you wish. The whole process took me maybe 20 minutes, including the time to track down your profile and send you the sample I made in-world.
