Best off-line sculpty viewer?

Can anyone recommend a tool for viewing sculpties offline before uploding textures?
I need something that can take a 64x64 image file and render the sculpty as it would under SL, and can support:
* scaling independently for each axis
* all SL stitching options
* different sampling depending on LOD

Currently I'm spending nearly $2 an hour just uploading texture maps to SL while developing, which takes quite while to update the sculptie properly.

Think I found my own answer...SculptySpace does nearly everything I need, including
setting LOD (only via hotkeys 1,2,3 oddly - there's no GUI to set it)

Ok, spoke too soon, it's not rendering quite a few of my test cases properly...oh well...

Would using the beta grid serve your purposes?

Or connecting to an OpenSim server running on your computer?

Depends how much work is involved!
But given accurate representation of how SL would render to sculptie is actually the #1 priority, then they might be sensible options. Setting up my own server kinda seems overkill though.

Using the beta grid is just a matter of pressing control shift G at the SL login page and picking "Aditi" from the grid selector, if your account is old enough to be in the database. If not you have to wait till the next time they update the database.

The OpenSim server is not real hard to install for local use. I got one running and connected to it without any trouble.

Couldn't log in to Aditi unfortunately.
I tried the osgrid OpenSim server but it was hopelessly slow...maybe I will try installing my own server.

Best solution: local OpenSim server!

Yup, own server's definitely the way to go - very straightforward, performance excellent, and I can be 100% sure of how sculpty will look once on the regular grid.

Thanks a heap!

Try this applet. The toy is JavaView. I wrote a bridge to allow sculpts to be viewed using it. The options are amazing, and to my opinion, the render is clean.

Cheers
