Don't fret yet, Bob. There's several people around who support artists and are looking for new works to display. Ask around! I recommend getting in touch with Bhodi Silverman. She runs a gallery and sculpture garden in Ritch.

Sorry for my bad grammer. I guess ive been in the computer chat laziness for to long. I played StarCraft Broodwar for a year now and still playing a bit. And I tend to get lazy with typing.

But continuing with the musem. Im not an artist. I started playing SL this week. But the idea is to put a bunch of art and other things on display. Such as cars and older items. But I dont know if I want to make it a free musem cause Ill need a income. Im thinking of making it a pass type of a thing.

Bob,

you really should get together with Bhodi Silverman. She's the main "art patron" in SL right now. Also, I ran a gallery for a little bit when I first arrived in SL and I can tell you that it's hard to get anyone to pay to come into a place, *but* you can do art-related events and earn cash that way :). In fact, it's a good way to do it :).

Ok, but Bhodi cares about grammar as much as the rest of us... so... don't be lazy when typing if you ask her to join forces with you :D

Art for arts sake

Yes I am new too to SL and am feeling arty !

I was thinking of opening up a gellery where an artist can display their works (maybe a limit of 2) for a specified period (maybe 2 weeks)

There would be space for exhibitions by selected artists.

I was thinking of charging $1 to the artist to do this.

Each "painting" would be sent to me and then placed as no copy no modify.. I would add details of where to find more from this artist etc.

I was thinking of a large circular room where the paintings are rotated and moved off when the 2 weeks was up...

I did want to stamp each item with the artists name to avoid any possible ripping off. but the charge of $10 to upload item again prevents this.

I was not going to charge the public to view !

If anyone is interested in combining efforts to do this or something similiar please contact me.

Also is this $1 fee to display gonna turn artists away ?

I'd love to hear more ideas.

Or find a group on Art !

Dear Aspiring Gallery and Museum Owners!

(This is what I get for not having read this forum for a while - this is a MUCH belated post!)

The Bhodi Tree Gallery has just reopened in it's new location in Rich (172,116) and is very much looking for people to participate! I'l like to suggest that before you try building your own gallery (they are a LOT of work, frankly, if you want them to remain fresh and interesting to SL!), you join us and try out your events and ideas as part of the Bhodi Tree Artists Collective.

We've been blessed to have the works of many of SL's best artists loaned to us for display. Currently, our sculpture garden is coming along nicely and features such SL classics as Onei Escher's Ball in the Hand, Eddie Escher's Alive and Dead, and a real bodhi tree built by premier SL horiticulturist Ananda Sandgrain. Lordfly has just finished up the Gallery itself, and soon we'll be getting the works up on the walls.

If you'd like to help out around the Bhodi Tree, just give me a tell! It would be great training for opening up your own SL Gallery, and we always welcome new and innovative ideas!

As a former art museum owner, (The first, so I've been told) I can guarantee that it is REALLY hard, and you do need to pimp the museum for a while to even get noticed. Mine, of course, was a horrific failure. Bhodi was, and still is, the first and only person I've seen do well with it.

As for charging for admission... there are always ways around paying to get into things...

P.S. Bhodi, I might talk to you about putting some things in there... just because I can ;^p
