I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to coil a cylinder in wings3d. I can get it to make a coil in only one dimension meaning that it coils up like a snails shell (tighter coil in the center an then getting bigger) i do this by using the "bend" option and then pick a normal for the bend that is slightly rotated from x, y or z. What I would like to do is make it with more of a skew as in the standard torus "spring" like prim.

Something like this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/21635604@N05/3321166426/?

I used the bend technique that Daniel shows in his tutorial #3 (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1896380109653226562) to form a ring. I extended the bend to form two overlapping rings -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/21635604@N05/3320336853/. Then I selected the vertices of one end of the bent cylinder and moved them, with linear magnets, perpendicular to the plane of the ring. The one thing that may not be too obvious is that you have to set the magnet option to measure distance along the surface.
