I know I have a lot of other projects going, but I've been known to get around like the forum whore I am, so here's another one:
Who wants to join in on making a movie production company in SL? In 1.1 video will be supported, so we can make little movies or TV shows maybe and record them, with sounds and scripted special effects. We can also edit them outside of SL.
Who wants to join?

I'm actually planning on doing some video stuff in SL too, though mostly just some motion controlled sets for chromakeyed backgrounds. I make puppetry music videos with Adobe After Effects. If you want to see my videos, check out "I'm With You" or "Major Tom" (my two favorites so far) at the Fluff & Such Videos site. If you ever need any special effects, let me know. ~ Tiger Crossing ~ (Nonsanity) P.s. Ooh... If anyone lives in the Maryland area and REALLY wants to see their RL self in a SL setting, I can probably do that. Or vice versa.

it's going to look pretty weird if all the dialogue is preceded by people waving their hands at an invisible keyboard for 30 seconds or so..or are you doing silent movies?

I feel like such a shill. Yet again, this sounds cool Darwin and I'll pitch in enthusiastically. Especially on set design Although the sound is an interesting point. The 'actors' could record their own lines offline and then Tiger (or anyone with Premeire etc) could edit the whole thing together. All in all, it's got possibilities.

As for voices on in-game movies, something similar to what was done with Halo could work. Check out Red Vs. Blue for a good example: http://www.redvsblue.com/bloodgulch.shtml ~ Tiger Crossing ~ (Nonsanity)

I have been getting more and more sucessful at my mpeg->SL project, so if you wish to have a IW theatre to show the movies, let me know. (Currently have the res up to 320x256 by about 25fps, streaming fairly good for those whom been around for my experiments.... )

Well, I found about 30 sec segments run the best as far as non-fuzzy.. Of course it just is a matter of tossing another texture onto the primes to make it longer, so basically unlimited. There is, however, a fraction of a second blip when the textures swap, which still is not too bad. (About 8 frames or so dropped per 750). I think I can defeat this by having two layers, so the next 30 second segment loads and it is just a matter of having them swap positions....
[I also think the math involved in my tile of frames could contribute to fuzziness, so I may find a number that works well to allow longer clips.)

Now all it'll need is synced sound and a theater to play it in. "Lights! Simulation! Action!" ~ Tiger Crossing ~ (Nonsanity )

I have sound. It is not quite perfectly synched yet, but getting there... Not sure how the synching would hold up to lag though..

I'm down. I have some experience in video & sound editing. I have an interest in film & helped on indie film projects so I can help out that way offworld. In world, I can help with scripting scenes.

I wanna help! Caiyln Miller wrote this wonderful SL Movie Maker for me. Basically, it takes the AVI you recorded in SL, then it goes and chops up all the frames into little frame grids, which you can upload to SL, and with the proper script, play for people!

I was around when a Linden asked a group of us how we would feel about a live voice feature with very good voice masking software that could change fem to male etc. So maybe voice could be recorded live in the future. also i have RL set building experience as well as wicked nice models in SL so if you need props (boats, helicopters, guns and camo) please ask I would love to be involved with a sl production
