Greetings everybody,
My name is Amsterdam Becquerel, and I'm currently working on two projects concerning news and events in SL.
The first is an in-world newspaper. I realize that Wagner James Au covers the events pretty well, but hey, the more views the better, right? This is a democracy (at least I think it is) and I am of the opinion that things are happening everyday in SL that are of significant interest to reseidents that aren't being covered. SL needs alternative voices. It will likely start out as a weekly, but ideally, it will be a daily. The project is still in its infancy, but if you're interested in contributing, if you have a story to tell,an axe to grind, or an event or location you'd like to receive coverage, IM me and we'll talk.
The second project is a freelance feature story I'm working on concerning mmorpgs. I'm interested in all perspectives and all issues, but I'm particularly interested in economic issues, positive and negative. How do you feel about the market mentality of some of the residents? Are you profiting from your time in the game? Corporate intrusion got you down? Send me an IM if you have a story or would just like to voice an opinion, or you can do it here in this post.

Well, I don't kow if this is what you are looking for, but the Parks & Rec Service is putting together bi-weekly press releases for anyone who is interested in having the info  Currently we will only be giving this to Hamlet, but would love to include anybody else in the list. Or maybe even a column on SL Natural Life. I'd luv to chat more about this, just IM me in-world!!!

There have been a couple of attempts at newspapers in the past. They were fun and interesting to read. You will have to stick to it and have a dedicated staff to be successful. Good luck to you Amsterdam. Newstands at the telehubs would be cool. Maybe local editions as to whats happening in each area.

I'm thinking, maybe I could show in the paper a scripting technique every issue? Like, say, how to do llListen(), or sensors?
Just a thought.
