Hey all. I was wondering if anyone knew of a hardwood floor texture with a high gloss or how to make an existing hardwood floor shine. I saw a floor in a furniture store yesterday that had an amazing high gloss. It was the most incredible floor I have ever seen. I didn't LM the store and can't find it again and I have look all over SL for a hardwood texture with a high gloss and can't find one.
Perhaps one of you may be able to help?
Thanks, Huffa

One of the filters in the texture dialog controls the shine. I think it's the middle tab.
There are also some other build tricks to create the illusion of reflections in said shiny floor.
Have fun!!

The shine feature doesn't do what I am looking for. Anybody know anything about reflections in textures or objects? Thanks!

Typically builds that appear to have reflective floors actually use translucent floors and have replicated the build in mirror image underground, beneath the floor, to serve as a "reflection". Very cool if done right - if you can spare the prims.

Period. It is possible to simulate reflections on the floor by using some tricks such as drawing the reflection on the floor texture or making the floor slightly transparent and placing another prim slintly underneath it with the reflected image on it (and flipped.) These are not perfect solutions as they will only appear correctly from one angle, but you can try them.

You should also know that when you put a transparent layer over the "real" floor to create that mirrored effect, you also introduce the challenge of an alpha sorting glitch. At the wrong angle, other things with transparency (skirts, shoes, etc.) will flicker in and out of visibility. There are trade-offs for every choice you make <sigh>.
