Attaching Objects to Fingers

Back in Beta a lot of people made Rings and Jewlery that were attached to the hands.

Due to Animations we are now able to manipulate multiple facets of our avatars movement.

However, attached objects still act as though a hand is layed out flat and keep their position

Notably, My question is this should we request that LL update and allow individual joints of fingers for attachment purposes?

If so please respond here.

Sincerely, Shadow Weaver

If I have heard the rumors right, the reason they cannot do this is something to do with limitations of the Poser 2 model...

Thus chin attachments won't move with the mouth, finger attachments aren't possible yet, and animation of individual fingers, eyes, and mouth are currently unavailable outside of the standard SL gestures... well, I've tried, but without any results.

Le sigh. :(

I sign for this;

LL has done a lot of new things for the SL world. Why can't they try to add this and make it better. Would be kewl to have finger attachments. Could have Edward Scissorhands or somethin. *shrug*

I've already seen that done with the current featureset.

yeah but the attachments would move with the fingers instead of the lower forearm.

what about pointing? or the peace sign V? or when you type and your fingers are slightly bent but not closed? sometimes just standing around my fingers are hanging loose, sometimes they're fists and sometimes they're spread wide open. there's alot of finger movement going on.

Its at a model-level though, not joint animation, I believe. We can select all those hand poses when we setup animations. We just cant make more.

Reit is right on that those are preset animations and as far as the animations we use they are associated with a .bvh file and this is the wrong forum to get into .bvh file limitations as the Poser 2 model is the basis for the SL avatar however its NOT the SL Avatar.

Those that do 3d animation with Poser and other Mocap programs understand the association I am mentioning however we are unable to animate those as we do not have the BASE model and its skelatal structure to set up an appropriate .bvh file.
