I have started a home in Teal, and I was wondering if anyone else who likes communities would like to build there? We would have roads, homes, possibly a downtown area, and maybe even a government if we get that far.
Interested? IM me!

Hi James.
I like how Teal is shaping up. I have been sort of slow going with building on my land and plan a new building there soon, just a lot going on with new residents arriving to SL. I think roads would be an eye sore (along with that giant toilet, ugh)and not really necessary, but I am up for strong sim unity and goal direction.
We share a nice stage with Slate that never gets any use. I would like to see some events held there to bring people to the area. We are way up north (right next to the Sandbox) and a lot dont make it up to our sim.
I know there are some little projects in the works for both Teal and Slate. Maybe we (the residents of Teal and Slate) should should have a little meet and greet neighborhood get together and talk about our plans for our sims?
I would like to encourage everyone to drop in on the Sandbox for some experimental building and drop in on Teal while your in the area.

Hello fellow Teal residents.
I agree with Loki, I think roads are an eyesore in general (in some areas they "fit" the environment, but I don't think in Teal.
Perhaps instead a small system of trails/paths.. grassy areas, etc. There's a nice garden type area being developed sort of near the stage that catches my eye everytime I pass by.
To get the community involved in a joint project might take some doing -- seeing that we all keep differing hours/agendas. Still I agree with the original idea, of forming some community things to do.
Btw, I saw the stage being used the other day, not sure what for, some event or something. By the time I swung around to see, everyone was leaving (maybe 8 people there).

Roads?
06-26-2003 11:11
I'm still new, but I think the roads are nice, in anyway they are implemented. They offer a bit of conformity and a landmark or guide to the area. As it stands I find SL to be a chaotic flea market of some poorly concieved structures and, without the map, entirely confusing. I appreciate the diversity, don't get me wrong, and I think the toilet is well done despite tasteless (the floating signs and various "nude girls - girls gone wild" come to mind as well). However some sort of linking theme or atleast a bound to reality (like roads) would be VERY appreciative. I'll head to Teal when I log on, I look forward to building a house now that I've got the basics and done some exploring. Any general theme you thinking of James?

I don't really like the idea of roads, mostly because things like towns and cities pop to mind. I think it would be nice to have pathways though, or at least someway of linking together all of our places. I'm a no for anything huge. The toilet was a great design but ugly and too big to be put up there on that hill So...paths/greenary, sort of like a park feeling i'm up for. Besides, there are very few places in SL that have that park or nice calm nature feeling hehe. My little isle i'm keeping as natural as possible, though my manor is going to be medievalish sort of (if anyone wondered what the heck i'm building hehe) I definitely thing the park thing is cool, and maybe we could start holding events at the new Ampitheatre to draw interest, since we are on the outskirts of the world ;p

Hey guys! Nice to finally see some replies! When I first posted this, I was the only owner in Teal, and I wasn't really sure what direction it was going to go. It appears that most of the residents seem to like the idea of keeping the terrain the way it is now, and keeping it very natural. I really like this idea. I dont really care what the theme is, as long as we have a theme. Anyone volunteer to get some grassy paths/trails down?

Well the bridges i used to connect the two isles i can duplicate so we can connect them to the mainland(so to speak), trails and plants are pretty easy from there. I was thinking we should have lots of pretty trees too Oh! And i was also thinking we should organize an event at the nearby ampitheatre to draw people our way, since we are on the outskirts of the world.

Given, I don't own land... anywhere really, but I DO agree that you should get the Lindens to have events at the new amphitheatre. The new amp fixes the falling throught the ground, and I think it's just in a nicer area. Stage 4 took a lot of events from the original amp and now it is't really used either. So... if any Lindens look at this, USE THE NEW AMPHITHEATRE!!!
Whew, ok, I'm sure Teal will look great, you've got some gifted builders over there.

Well i was thinking that maybe instead of using Stage 4 at the old welcome area to do my events and games, i'll ask if its ok to move them to the ampitheatre. There are so many interesting things in the new sims, i don't think the new residents have looked there yet, or even have a clue of how to get there hehe.

If anyone has some grassy/plant/tree textures/objects and doesn't mind sharing -- if ya spot me lemme know. All I have is carpet heh.
If anyone hasn't seen Aurelie's garden (and castle), go have a look. It's very nice and will give some good ideas towards, perhaps, how we can model our community trails.
Btw, box seating areas for the amplitheater are still available, hurry! :) (hoping the Linden's get this theater active!)
