When I lowered my land, it all turned to dirt, will it eventually turn back to grass, or is there something I have to do to get it back to grass?

each sim is configured to use a given ground texture within a specific height range so the answer is no. you can put a grass texture on a large prim just above the ground. if you make it a fifth-meter high and phantom it, it'll look like you're standing in tall grass.

Also, there is a grass tool in the "Create" Menu.
