If you are using the RC scripts, then there is map protection built in. Set the format to RGBA before saving in Scene buttons (F10). You can chose a blank alpha channel or a 3D preview of the sculptie as the protection. If you want text there instead, then load the map into your graphics program and put a greyscale image onto the alpha channel.

That's mostly there for people who are creating sculpties from scratch with UV unwrapping. If you create a 64 x 64 image (or one of the other supported map sizes) then "Bake Sculptie LOD", it will show the most important pixels in blue. The brighter the blue, the more LODs use that pixel. So in the unwrap, you know where to align things to for the best result.

in photoshop theres a "layer" tab with 5 icons on the bottom, one adds an alpha layer.
paint a signature on that one.
save as tga with 32bit alpha channel.

it is a GREAT idea to have a signature on the sculptmaps alpha layer.
a ripping bot/script would not care to filter all the alpha channels, not worth the efford in that mass, and anyone who uses a sculptmap barely ever sees its alpha layer.

You mean the Channels palette (or Channels panel if you're using CS4), not the Layers palette. There's no such thing as an "alpha layer". It's alpha CHANNEL. Layers and channels are entirely different things.

Indeed, the alpha channel slave knows all about it.

X3 ok I am confuse I only need to set RGBA before saving in Scene buttons, them use the PS or any other program and choose only to save the alpha channel for only use the alpha channel as the sculp map when I upload to SL or do I need to this in blender?
