Okay, I did a test to buy my item, and when I did, the item didn't go in my inventory. Do I need a script... or what?

Hi Serenity, If i can speculate here....no you dont need a script to sell items out of a box, you just need the proper settings on the box.

1. make a product with proper permissions

2. make a box and place the item in the contents of the box.

3. check the for sale box and enter a price on the general tab and set permissions of the box (i like copy (SL eats things) but no transfer)

4. (very important to me) take a copy and sent it to an alt and log with the alt and see how it works.

you can also put a hovertext script in the box and it will display text over the box.

An old friend told me once long ago that it is better to sell many of your items cheap than to never sell any because the price is too high.

if'n you need some help lemme know i'd be happy to help

So what DID happen? Did you get the little dialog window that indicates a sale took place?

If it did, then did you check all over your inventory, or just where you expected it to show up? If you were selling an article of clothing, for example, you might have expected it to appear in your Clothing folder. Maybe it ended up in Objects or in a free-standing folder somewhere else in inventory. That happens to me all the time.

If you did those things and you still have a problem, test the sale process by having an alt or a friend do it, to see whether it's just you.

Unless you are selling with a commercial vendor panel like Hippo, you shouldn't need a special script. All you have to do is set the proper parameters on the General tab of Edit. Click the For Sale button, type in a price, set the perms and indicate what is being sold, and then use the final dropdown menu to set "Pay" or "Buy" as the Touch option. If you have done those things, it should work just fine.

Okay, well, I tried to sell it to a friend, and he bought it, by paying for it, but it didn't go into his inventory.

Another question. Is there a reason it doesn't show me as creator when I go to its properties?

ETA: When I go to "Create" it says I am Creator, but not when I go to properties

The most common reason that you might not show up as the creator is that the prim you are using as the root was actually created by someone else. If the creator sold it to you with mod/transfer perms, you would be able to incorporate it in your own new object but it would still show him/her as the creator. So long as you have transfer perms for the object, even if you aren't the creator, you should have no trouble selling it.

I can't think of another good reason why the object isn't showing up in inventory when it's sold unless ....... You did give the object a name, didn't you? It sounds silly, but I can't count to number of times I have made something and forgotten to name it before taking it back into my inventory .... where it is automatically named "Object." Try rezzing the most recent "Object" in your inventory to see if that's it.

EDIT: LOL. Congratulations! Our posts crossed in the mail. Glad it worked for you. ;)

Thanks... I won't worry about the Creator thing... My name is on the Hovering Text so people know I made it. And I will have a note in it so people know it is from me.
