Would a fed ex type shipping company work in Sl? People could come up with scripts that transfer packages from brop boxes to people's spawn points.

Sure, but why not just drop it in someone's inventory through their profile?

I think that delivering mail could be a lot of fun.

It is all a matter of realism versus practicality. As far as scripts to physically move the package, unless I missed something, isn't the "no outside scripts" on land still the bane of any globally moving object? /Edit: Yup, looks like I missed the 40 meter up bit.

Actually there is currently a bug in the no outside scripts code where motion and vehicle scripts will work in those areas, mostly.
It was kind of funny, while I was testing it out I found that although the Linden Hoverboard would work in a no scripts area, if you get off while in that area it can't stop you from surfing, and you'll be stuck that way untill you get on the board again or fix it yourself.
Anyway I was just thinking it might be neat to put scripted postboxes on our houses and have robot letter carriers bring things like notecards to people. That way you could easily send a message to multiple people at one address, and let them keep the letter too.
It could also be fun checking your mailbox, to see what goodies people have sent you. The physical, in-game nature of such a box would be delightful imo.

I'll have to play with that a bit. But back on topic, I agree, I think it would be neat to have packages and letters waiting for you.

Max - I was working on a hovering mail/package delivery robot that delivered things right to your AV about three months ago, but I scapped it due to (my then) inadequate scripting skills, some (then) problems with consistently getting to the AV across the world, and my (now and forever) habit of tryng to realise too many ideas at once. I think the mail idea is great, and you can have all my scripts for my mailbot FWIW (may not be of any help at all, but u never know - might be good for automated delivery trucks or something).

Sounds cool. I know I've been tinkering off and on with a mailbox of my own, which would email me if someone dropped things into it inworld. (I really should see about finishing up the scripting) The bot sounds like an interesting idea; I'd like to see it if it gets implemented. And it should ideally look like a Dalek.
