i have one i made when we had linkages but now you have to use a swing script
you could do it with physics and llApplyImpulse but it gets laggy or you could use llSetTextureAnim. _____________________

the method used in the linked article works pretty well, and will stay pretty consistent with the time, or at least not be off by an overly large amount of time. (just don't use the alternative commented lines, they work but lose something in precision)
if you're thinking physics, this can be done also, with very slight scripted intervention, and some special building techniques... but because of the not so precise physics framework it can be much more error prone (stops, breakage, etc).... but if you are interested, the person to talk to would be Emilin of the Virtual Mechanics group, as she and other group members are constantly experimenting with improved techniques for getting the physics engine to play nice. _____________________
