This has probably been asked before but I could not find the answer. Is there a way to link an object in open space to an object that is attached to you? The only way I have found to do this is to take the object off then put it with the open space object link them then wear it again. See what I mean even typing that took forever there has got to be a better way...haha

Edit: Oh..Hello all, I'm kind of new to Second Life and the forums...my first post. =)

Welcome to the Forums!

No, you can not link or unlink anything to a linkset of prims that is attached to you.

Nor can anyone else with modify rights on your stuff modify, in any way at all, any of the prims that are attached to you (another person can't even resize your attached hair).

Here is a work-around, however, which will allow you or a friend with mod rights to adjust your attachment and add or remove prims as needed.

Let's say you had a hat that you made, and that you wanted to add to your prim hair. You can't link it while you are wearing the hair.

Rez a pose stand (or any pose ball that holds your head and body motionless). There are free pose stands available in most of the free stuff areas. (If you can't find one, IM me in world and I'll send you one). Get on the pose stand.

Rez a copy of the hair (or other normally attached item) _on the ground_, and move it to your body in the position and rotation it would normally occupy. This gives you a frame of reference for how it should appear.

Rez the extra prims, and position them where you want them with the hair. If you need to delete or adjust other prims to make things fit, now is the time to do that.

Highlight in edit the extra prims first, then the hair last. Link them.

Rename the new linkset appropriately (Boy next door male hair with bowler hat), and take it back into inventory.

Wear the modified attachment. It should reappear in the normal position, with the new pieces as part of it.
