With respect to user loading times, will the same general rules apply to sculpted prims as with textures?
Specifically, if I use the same sculpted texture on several prims, will each sculpted prim have to load separately or will the view see/load the sculpty texture once and apply it to several prims? (which I think will speed loading times)

Just once, since sculpties technically ARE just textures.
The load time for a sculpty is the time it takes for the texture to rez in fully, essentially, so as soon as you have it in your cache it should load almost immediately from then on, and all of that sculpt in the vicinity should rez all at once.

I did a build once with a few hundred acorn-shaped sculpties as newell posts and rail decorations on stair railings and bridge railings. The instant one rezzed properly, they all did, throughout the build. Even the ones I couldn't yet see.
