I have a glass sculpty for a bay window and would like to texture one side of it transparent and the other side with a privacy tint controlled with a script file. As this can be done with a regular prim, I'm at a loss to accomplish this with a sculpty. When I try to add the texture, the whole sculpty is choosen and not just the selected side I want to change. Can this be done?
Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions. Unlike other prim types, sculpties only have one side. So you can only apply one texture to it. I suppose the answer is that you cannot do it. As I think about this, it might could be done by changing the sculpt map and turning some of the faces inside out. You could have the script change the sculpt map instead of, or in addition to, the texture. But it would be totally clear, not translucent. But I have way too many irons in the fire to be thinking about that. This is how I got too many irons in the fire in the first place.

As I think about this some more, I think you could make your texture an alpha and make the portion that would be inside the window translucent. And then another that would be solid, and swap them with your script.

If you have a mod/copy version of the window, apply a 'Result Mesh' texture to a copy of it. This will show how the texture is distributed over the object in numbered quadrants. Take a note of the parts you want to make transparent, open a copy of the texture in Photoshop or Paintbox or whatever and create the alpha channels using a copy of the result mesh texture on a layer for reference.

Another option, which is simpler if you can afford the extra prim, is to use two copies of the sculpty, and make one of them inside-out.
