As an officer in a group I decided to deed a linked object to the group. I had to untick the LOCK box to do this. However now the lock box is greyed out so I cannot lock it down again. The item, a house can be moved by accident now. Is there a way to re-enable the lock box to prevent this.

Nope.
An object can only be locked or unlocked by it's owner. The owner is now the group, not you personally, so you can't lock it.
I suppose, to be technically correct, if every member of the group checked the lock option in turn, that should do it... but let's face it... would you expect LL to incorporate something like that?
