Howdy!

Some of you know that I run "The Museum" -- which used to be located in Immaculate but is now in Aqua, right next door to AV central. What is the Museum? It's a public service dedicated to offering artists a place to show (and sell) their original artwork in game. The current line up of artists are:

July 30-Aug 14 -- Kitra Kothari -- mixed media
Aug 16- Aug 31 -- Loki Pico -- photography
September 1-14 -- Devyn Grimm -- mixed media

Basically it works like this: The museum subsists on donations and a voting station. It offers its space for free to artists on a rotating basis -- i.e. each artist gets two weeks to show their work in the space, in whatever way they choose. We accept both visual art and sculpture made with original textures, etc. The museum staff throws a show opening party which is usually funded by the Lindens and offers some kind of monetary incentive to get folks in the door, as well as food and a little chit-chat. The museum staff also makes signage to promote the artist and generally helps with the arrangement of the work, if needed.

The benefits to artists include a free! space to show their work, a dedicated curator who is open to helping artists sell their work in whatever way she can, and a chance to promote original art in general in SL. The museum never asks artist to pay for this service, though it does accept donations in whatever form the artist chooses. For instance, Kitra Kothari has offered to help the museum landscape its grounds in exchange for her show time. The benefits to visitors include a free space to see and buy original artwork to include in their own spaces that is usually quite cheap.

Right now the rotation list is full through September 14, but after that we have several openings! Please contact me in game to get the low-down on getting on the list and getting a chance to show your art.

If you are interested in visiting the museum we're the tall brick building just behind the Aqua Av Central. IM me for a landmark!

We are also looking for volunteers to help man the show parties and work on some very minor scripting projects that the curator can't handle herself. So if you're looking for something to do, please contact me as well!

Looking forward to seeing you all at The Museum,

Zana Feaver
