I'm having the ickiest time trying to subdivide my island in two or three pieces. I get up high but the tool doesn't seem to go to the edge, or something else goes wrong. Is there an easier way to do this?

Sometimes it helps to make smaller parcels first and then join them later. That way, you don't have to get so far up that you can't see what you're doing.
